Student Actors Take The Stage For Shuler Hensley Awards

King's Ridge, Alpharetta, Cambridge and Milton high school students will take part in the 2016 Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards.

ALPHARETTA-MILTON, GA -- ArtsBridge Foundation, the arts education outreach arm of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, on Friday released the names of the the 96 actors and actresses who will perform in the Shuler Student Ensemble at the 2016 Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards – Shuler Hensley Awards.

Additionally, the organization revealed the 32 members of its 2016 S.T.A.R (Students Take A Role) Council who will serve as production assistants for the April 21 awards show, which celebrates excellence in high school musical theater.

Several of those students are from north Fulton County high schools, including:

  • Alpharetta High School: Olivia Palmer – Ensemble
  • Cambridge High School: Lucy Pease and Tori Coleman – Ensemble; Addison Webster and Kate Hohn – S.T.A.R. Council.
  • Chattahoochee High School: Heath Goldman and Rachel Da Silva – Ensemble; Marissa Borah – S.T.A.R. Council
  • Johns Creek High School: Adam Puckett and Amanda Glatter – Ensemble; Danielle Bergman – S.T.A.R. Council
  • King's Ridge Christian School: Cole Arnold and Lucy Martin – Ensemble; Ari Marshall – S.T.A.R. Council
  • Milton High School: Paige Underwood and Sara Underwood – Ensemble
  • Northview High School: Claudia Moreno and Simon Assaf – Ensemble; Jillian Rois – S.T.A.R. Council

The Shuler Student Ensemble features talented young men and women nominated by their high school directors. The students represent public and private schools and will perform the Shuler Awards opening and finale numbers. They will be instructed by a professional team that includes a director, choreographer, music director and Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley.

“It is a true honor to mentor and perform for the eighth year with this incredibly talented group of high school students,” said Marietta-native and Tony Award Winning actor Shuler Hensley. “The awards show is filled with inspiring group and individual performances. For many of these students, the moments that they have on stage can change their lives."

The S.T.A.R. Council gives technical theater students a professional and educational experience in theater and television production. S.T.A.R. Council students are nominated by their high school theater director and must display leadership, dedication, and a strong work ethic within their high school theater program. Its members serve as production assistants during the Shuler Awards where they work alongside the professional designers and technicians to gain valuable experience. Additionally, these students have opportunities to participate in several exclusive, behind-the-scenes events throughout the year.
