Suspect Chokes Mother In Front Of Baby During Robbery

The following information was obtained from an incident report provided by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Three people have been arrested in connection to the robbery of a mother late last week at North Point Mall in Alpharetta.

Officers were dispatched to the Von Maur store at the mall around 12:43 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 and met with the woman who recounted the incident to police.

The woman said she pulled into a parking spot, got out of her vehicle and went to the rear hatch to retrieve a baby stroller.

She told police she "noticed a black pickup truck and thought it was trying to back into a parking spot near her," according to an incident report released by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

At that moment, the woman, who had her seven-month-old daughter in tow, said a male "was in her face, pushing her and yelling at her" to get into her car.

"She said that he kept telling her to get in and that his hands were on her neck and arms and she felt pain to her back," the report states. "She said she kept telling the male 'no' and then she heard a car door open."

That sound, according to the report, was that of another suspect opening her passenger side door and grabbing her purse.

Both suspects fled the scene in the black truck, later identified by a witness as a newer model Ford F-150 with a quad cab and drive-out tag. The victim complained of neck and back pain, but declined medical treatment, the report states.

Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesperson George Gordon said the suspects were captured in Cobb County shortly after the incident. Their names have not been released at this time.
