Taste of Alpharetta Returns May 12

Alpharetta, GA -- The Taste of Alpharetta will celebrate 26 years of serving up the city’s best restaurants, culinary competitions and live music when it returns in May.

The event is set for Thursday, May 12, and will be held in the historic district of downtown Alpharetta, which encompasses Milton Avenue, Roswell Street, Old Roswell Street, Canton Street and Old Canton Street.

Alpharetta’s biggest springtime event attracted more than 50,000 patrons to the 2015 event, organizers said.

Held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Taste of Alpharetta offers great food from more than 50 restaurants, a culinary competition, live music, 3 Family-Friendly Fun Zone Areas and much more.

While the event offers free admission, festival-goers have the opportunity to purchase food and activity tickets at the event for $5 for 10 tickets.

Tickets are redeemed at participating restaurant booths for taste samples guaranteed to satisfy every palate. Alpharetta’s best loved restaurants will serve up their signature dishes including appetizers, entrees and desserts. The diverse menu of taste options will range from 1-6 tickets ($.50 - $3) per sample. Tickets can also be redeemed in the events in the events family friendly Fun Zone areas for a variety of activities including face painting, rock climbing walls, inflatable’s, balloon art and henna tattoos.

Local chefs will compete in the Taste of Alpharetta Culinary Competition in a variety of categories, including Best Appetizer/Salad, Best Fast Casual Entree, Best Fine Dining Entrée, Best Dessert and Best Presentation.

Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., select competing chefs will conduct cooking demos on the Culinary Competition Stage. The People’s Choice Award allows patrons to vote for their favorite restaurant. The Taste of Alpharetta Culinary Competition Awards will be presented at 8:30pm on the Main Music Stage for the top chefs in each category and the People’s Choice Award.

Along with free admission, the event will also offer free shuttles and parking.
