Thieves Continue to Steal Milton Residents' Credit Card Info
The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Deer Trail woman wasn't in Virginia when four charges were made on her credit card on Feb. 24.
Three times someone used her card in Radford, VA, and once in Fairlaw, VA, spending $456 on her card. Her husband had last used the card in Buford a few days earlier.

She reported the fraudulent charges to Milton police on Feb. 25.
Her card has been canceled and she notified her bank as well.

Bank Employee Victim of Credit Card Fraud
Even bank employees can be victims of credit card fraud, as a Milton woman found.
The bank employee was notified by the bank's fraud department that her credit card was used for two purchases at a Walmart in Wisconsin totaling on Feb. 23. She immediately notifed Milton police.
Identity Thieves Keep Filing Tax Returns in Someone Else's Name
A Milton woman tried to file her income tax only to find someone else had used her name and Social Security number to file a fraudulent return.
The woman told Milton police on Feb. 21 that when she notified the IRS of the problem, they confirmed it was a fraudulent return and canceled the refund check. She was told to file a police report.
Bethany Bend Man's Debit Card Goes International
A Bethany Bend man reported to Milton police on Feb. 20 that his debit card information was stolen and used for purchases in a foreign country.
His original card was destroyed and hes been issued a new debit card, plus been advised of other steps to protect his financial identity.
