Volunteer Opportunities Abound With North Point Community Church
North Point Community Church offers nearly 5,000 service opportunities with nonprofits throughout the community.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Want to make a difference in the community but not sure how? North Point Community Church wants to make it simple and has launched a campaign called Be Rich to do just that.
Locally, this includes nearly 5,000 service opportunities with nonprofits like North Fulton Community Charities, Foster Care Support Foundation, HomeStretch, No Longer Bound, Senior Services of North Fulton, The Drake House, and Fulton County Schools. That is in addition to thousands more service opportunities with nonprofits across the metro Atlanta area and around the world. To sign up for local service opportunities, go online.
“Most people want to make a difference, but they don’t know how. We want to make it simple to serve those in need and help nonprofits doing great work in areas like homelessness, near homelessness, and children at risk. Every hour served and every dollar given through Be Rich will make a big difference as we come together to love our communities,” said Ameera Joe who leads the effort at North Point Community Church.

Just a few examples of the local service opportunities include calling BINGO at Senior Services of North Fulton; helping students with their homework at STAR House Foundation; organizing the food pantry at North Fulton Community Charities; sponsoring an outing for a man in recovery through No Longer Bound; writing notes of encouragement to teachers with Fulton County Schools; and encouraging families experiencing homelessness with The Drake House.
Last year, Be Rich mobilized people around the world to give more than $8 million and 35,000 service hours to local and global nonprofits. A few examples of the more than 191 projects funded by Be Rich in 2020 are foster care initiatives, support for families living through childhood cancer, and a donation of more than 16,000 books for children in Fulton County Schools. Projects also included funding three international border stations to rescue women from trafficking, supporting shipments of personal protective equipment to underserved communities, and funding counseling and therapy for underserved children and adults.

The annual initiative is called Be Rich because it aims to mobilize people to be rich in good deeds, generous, and willing to share with their communities. It started 14 years ago with three Atlanta-area churches — North Point Community Church, Browns Bridge Church in Cumming, and Buckhead Church in Buckhead. It has grown into a global movement that this year includes 76 churches in 20 states and five countries.
