ALPHARETTA, GA — Join hundreds of volunteers for the 31st Annual Rivers Alive. The Alpharetta event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will help remove litter and debris from roadways, streams, and greenways; stencil storm drains and other projects. This is an event for families, scout troops, service groups and individuals to make a great impact on the community. Help keep the water source and the vital habitats it supports clean and healthy.

The Alpharetta Rivers Alive Event is a joint program of the Environmental Protection Division’s statewide Rivers Alive Program and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Program. The annual Georgia Waterway Cleanup is expected to once again be the largest single volunteer effort to protect and beautify Georgia’s water resources. Trash jeopardizes the health of the waterway, economy and people. It’s in the rivers, lakes and ocean – and it’s here to stay unless the public changes its practices. The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia's water resources.

The city is asking volunteers to pre-register by calling 678-297-6213 or emailing tporter@alpharetta.ga.us. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have the River's Alive Volunteer Waiver Form completed and signed by a parent before arriving at the event.
