'Why Do Police Shoot?' Seminar Set For May 30

The Alpharetta Police Department will host the informational session at the American Legion Post 201 on Wills Road.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- If you are like most residents, you have most likely read about a situation involving use of force by law enforcement and wonder, "why did the officer decide to shoot?"

Well, the Alpharetta Police Department seeks to provide you with an insight on the topic at a seminar it will host next week.

The Why Do Police Shoot event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 30 at the American Legion Post 201 at 201 Wills Road.

No registration is required for the event, and seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The agency's event will dive into law enforcement training, laws, myth vs. reality, human behavior in high-stress situations and the challenges and limitations of technology such as body cameras.

You will also be able to review real law enforcement footage to open discussions about how and why officers use force while on duty.
