Woman Bitten By Dog In Alpharetta

ALPHARETTA, GA -- A woman was transported to North Fulton Hospital after she was bitten by a dog while trying to protect her own pooch.

An officer with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety responded to North Fulton Hospital around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 and met with the woman, who told the police the incident occurred at the Manchester at Mansell apartments on Huntington Drive.

The woman said she was walking her dog behind the 500 building when a large brown dog with pointy ears "appeared on the side of the building," according to an incident report released by the agency.

The victim's dog began to bark at the unknown dog and after a few seconds, the bigger dog charged at the smaller one.

As she bent down to pick up her dog, the woman said the larger dog "took a bite out" of her right hand. The dog ran away the encounter.

The incident report notes the woman said she's never seen the dog in the community and does not know who it belongs to.

The only other description she could provide was that it had short brown hair, the report adds.
