Woman Charged With DUI After Low-Speed Police Chase

The Cumming resident refused to pull over for Alpharetta officers and led them on a slow chase on Ga. 400 Saturday afternoon.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A Forsyth County woman was arrested and charged with DUI Saturday afternoon after leading police on a low-seed chase along Ga. 400 in Alpharetta and Roswell.

Officers with the Alpharetta 9-1-1 center received a call from a concerned resident about a possible DUI driver "that was swerving all over the road on Old Milton Parkway" near Avalon in Alpharetta, said Department of Public Safety spokesperson Officer Howard Miller.

Miller said the suspected vehicle, a white four-door Honda Accord, was observed by an officer on Ga. 400 southbound between Old Milton Parkway and Haynes Bridge Road. The officer saw the car swerve out of her lane, and he tried to make a traffic stop on the Accord. However, the driver, identified as 50-year-old Kimberly Favors of Cumming, had other plans, as she continued to travel southbound at a "slow speed," according to video shared Monday by the department its Facebook page.

In that video, the Honda is shown cruising southbound between 40 and 45 miles an hour, and occasionally drifting into the emergency lane and the second right lane.

Officers were able to box in the Honda on Ga. 400 just south of the Holcomb Bridge Road inside Roswell's city limits. On the dash-cam video, three officers descend onto the car and try to convince Favors to exit the vehicles. When she refused to open the driver's side door, an officer goes to the passenger side and opens that door.

"Did you not see that police car behind you?" one officer asked the door to the Honda Accord finally opens. Favors' response could not be made out on camera.

Favors emerges from the car, and officer have to escort her off to the shoulder of the highway and move the Honda from the far right travel lane.

Favors was transported to WellStar North Fulton Hospital for evaluation before she was taken to the Alpharetta Jail. She was charged with DUI/alcohol/less safe, failure to maintain lane and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
