Police ID Woman Killed While Crossing North Point Parkway

The 54-year-old pedestrian was hit by two cars Thursday morning after getting off a MARTA bus in Alpharetta.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Police have released the identity of the woman who was hit and killed while trying to cross a major thoroughfare Thursday morning in Alpharetta. Ramona Kaye Devore, 54, of Jonesboro was trying to cross North Point Parkway just south of Kimball Bridge Road when she was struck by two cars.

Alpharetta police spokesperson Jim Cheatham said Devore was getting off a MARTA bus when the collision occurred. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The victim was reported to have gotten off the bus and was on her way to work," he added.

Cheatham added there were initial reports that a third car struck the woman and didn't stop, but "that was not the case."

"Our hearts go out to the victim, her friends, and family," the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said on its Facebook page.

Officer Jason Muenzer said at this point, the department does not anticipate filing charges in the case, but said the investigation is still in its early stages.
