A Gaggle of Storytellers Coming to Athens in February

We have more electronic gizmos and gadgets than we know what to do with. But what’s at the heart of that which entertains us, delights us and uplifts us? What do we remember?

Stories.

Long ones, brief ones, poignant ones, whether they are confessional, inspirational, educational, frightening or hilarious. Stories are the stuff of memory.

On Feb. 8, listeners in Athens will have the chance to hear accomplished raconteurs tell stories and to enjoy live music and other performances.

Novelist George Dawes Green, founder of The Moth storytelling network, is bringing musicians and storytellers to Athens and eight other Georgia towns—and one in Florida--for the Unchained Tour on behalf of independent bookstores. .

Coming are playwright Edgar Oliver; Elna Baker, Mormon comedian and contributor to “This American Life”; Joan Juliet Buck, former editor of French Vogue; Peter Aguero, who hosts The Moth in New York; and the Charleston musical duo Shovels and Rope.
