Mother's Day Shooting Kills Woman, Athens Police Say

ATHENS, GA — A 34-year-old Athens woman died in a shooting around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Mother's Day, in the Chateau Terrace complex, Athens-Clarke County Police said.

Officers did not say what led to the shooting, which they said killed Latisha Andrews. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

While investigating, police said they arrested Sharod Greene, a 52-year-old Elberton man, in connection with the fatal shooting.

He faces charges of felony and malice murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, police said.

Clarke County Jail records on Monday showed Greene was being held without bond.
