Athens Clarke County Library Celebrates Compost Awareness Week

Children will learn all about worms!

 

Hooray for Worms! It’s International Compost Awareness Week, and the Athens-Clarke County Library is celebrating by hosting wormy storytimes May 6 through 11!

International Compost Awareness Week is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry, and it is held each first full week of May. ICAW promotes good social and sustainable habits that nature teaches us with composting, emphasized by the slogan “Let nature do it.”

Along with ACC Cooperative Extension, ACC Recycling Division, and The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, the Athens-Clarke County Library will be celebrating Compost Awareness Week Monday, May 6, through Saturday, May 11.

Toddler Storytimes are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Infant Storytime will be Monday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. Bedtime Stories are Monday Nights at 7:00 p.m. Book Jammers, for older kids, will also have a composting theme at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
