Athens Man Gets Ejected During Crash, Dies From Injuries
The man who was ejected from an SUV and died in the crash was identified Thursday.
ATHENS, GA — A 36-year-old Athens man died Wednesday after he was ejected from his SUV earlier this month, Athens-Clarke County Police said Thursday.
Police said Fredrico Purnell was in a single-vehicle crash around 4:15 p.m., May 4, at the intersection of Danielsville and Nowhere roads.
Purnell was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Danielsville, where the Tahoe hit a raised median and went into the intersection of Nowhere. Purnell was ejected from the Tahoe and was taken to a local hospital, police said. He died Wednesday of injuries sustained in the crash.

This is the seventh fatal motor vehicle crash this year in Athens-Clarke County.
