Athens Police Investigate Weekend Pedestrian Fatality
The incident happened around 2:20 a.m. Saturday on Commerce Road.
Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating a Saturday traffic accident that killed a pedestrian.
Police said in a media release that Santricia Monicia Barrow, 28, was killed around 2:20 a.m. Saturday while crossing Commerce Road at the Newton Bridge Road intersection. She ran into the path of a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Zachary Tyler Hoskins, 23, of Watkinsville.
“Hoskins attempted to avoid striking Barrow but he was unable to do so,” police said in the media release.
