Athens Police: Possible Human Remains Found in Burned Vehicle
The car was found on Winterville Road early Wednesday afternoon.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating the reported discovery of human remains in the burned car found Wednesday afternoon on Winterville Road.
The department said in a news release, “what appears to be human remains” were found at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Winterville Road.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation.

The remains will be sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for further testing, Lt. Chris Nich9ls said in the news release.
No other information was release.
