The Boathouse Marina on Lake Oconee Lands National Development Award

Marina and restaurant are open to the public

Greensboro, Ga. – Harbor Club, a 1,000-acre lake and golf community on Georgia’s Lake Oconee, continues to garner national recognition, most recently by earning highest honors from the Southeast Building Conference and the 35th Annual AURORA Awards.

Each year, the AURORA Awards recognizes architectural design, interior design and planning excellence and draws entries from throughout the Southeastern United Stated and Eastern Caribbean. Harbor Club’s new marina amenity, The Boathouse, claimed a 2016 AURORA Award in the β€œRecreational Facility” category. The Award will be presented at the black-tie AURORA Awards Gala on Friday, July 29 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Conference Center in Kissimmee, Fl.

In creating The Boathouse, Harbor Club transformed a dilapidated, old 1979 fish camp located just outside the community’s east gate into a vibrant marina and lakefront recreational facility featuring an old-time general store, rustic restaurant, smokehouse pit, banquet room and outdoor dining deck. There are also watercraft rental and fueling docks, boat launch, grand lawn, bocce ball, putting green and modular dry boat storage, which can grow with demand and instantly turns every interior residence in the community into a lake-access property.

Featuring 55 categories, the Aurora Awards encompasses all facets of the residential, commercial and remodeling industries. From overall design to sustainability, the awards program offers categories for each participant in the construction industry.
