AAHS Now Offering Pet CPR and First Aid Courses
AAHS is now offering Pet First Aid and CPR courses to help you be prepared for your pets and also to help raise funds for the animals at AAHS! Preparation is key!
April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month, so the Athens Area Humane Society has partnered with Christine Carter of PetTech to offer certified Pet First Aid and CPR courses to the public for only $50. Not only will you be preparing yourself to help pets in need, but you will also be helping the adoptable animals at AAHS because Christine will be donating a portion of the course proceeds to AAHS!
According to PetTech, one in four pets could be saved if just one pet first aid technique is used before taking the animal to a veterinarian. This four-hour course will teach you the skills and techniques that could mean the difference between life or death for a pet in distress, including preparation for:
- Restraining an ill or injured pet
- CPR and rescue breathing
- Bleeding Injuries
- Heat and cold injuries
- Snake and insect bites
- Bandaging
- And much more!
The first PetTech Pet First Aid and CPR course will be held at the AAHS Watkinsville location (1781 Mars Hill Rd., Watkinsville, GA 30677) on Saturday, July 9, 2012 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Space is limited, so please email Amanda@AthensHumaneSociety.org to reserve your seat. If you have specific questions about the course, please contact Christine at mmc214@uga.edu.
