I'm soooooooo excited about this new Athens area organization.
My grandparents were farmers in Jefferson. What wonderful childhood memories I have of their big garden brimming with veggies, milking the cows by hand, swinging on the barn door, waking up with the roosters, cooling the watermelon in the creek, and just being out on the farm.

I've chosen a more urban life, but an occasional day on a farm helping out the Crop Mob will be just what I need to reconnect to the agricultural life. Crop Mob really boosts local agriculture, just as old time barn raisings and quilting bees proved that "many hands make light work." It's an opportunity for exercise in the fresh air, contributing to the local agricultural economy, fun and a feast at the end.
Leslie Lawson, of Blackbriar Farm, said the "mob" descesded on her farm one day and put in raised beds that would have taken months to do otherwise.
Join me on Saturday at the as Amanda Willis from , Craig Paige from and Kate Munden-Dixon, Certified Naturally Grown coordinator, explain Crop Mob to The Boomers: Reflecting, Sharing, Learning.
