Name Your Price Cat Adoption Promotion

The Athens Area Humane Society is celebrating June as Adopt a Shelter Cat Month by offering a Name Your Price adoption promotion for the month of June. During Name Your Price, adopters can choose their own adoption fee for cats that are one year or older, which is normally $45 or $75 (depending on the cat’s age).

Because our local shelters are over-run with kittens right now, AAHS hopes that offering the Name Your Price adoption promotion will lead to increased cat adoptions so we can make room to save more cats from the shelters this month. Our goal is to find homes for as many cats in June as we can so that no cats go homeless this summer.

Adopters during the Name Your Price promotion will complete the cat adoption application and go through the same process as all of our adoptions—they will just get to choose their adoption fee once approved. The adoption fees chosen during Name Your Price must be a monetary amount (i.e., it cannot be free).

When you adopt a cat from AAHS, you’re getting a healthy cat that’s fixed and up-to-date on all of its vaccines, microchipped and more. The initial care we put into each adoptable cat could easily cost over $500, which gives adopters an idea of what their adoption fee includes.

Our Adoption Center is located at 191 Alps Rd., Athens, GA 30606 (in the back of Pet Supplies Plus) and it’s open Monday through Friday from 1:00pm to 7:00pm (closed Wednesdays) and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. You can also meet our cats at the Zeus House Shelter by appointment Monday through Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
