Recognition at the Fair
Back and unpacked and dried out from the art fair. Rained out on Sunday but a nice ribbon and a huge thumbs up from the director!
I'm back from the Festival on Ponce in Atlanta and so happy to be home. The older I get, the less I want to put everything in the car, drive to, set up and participate in a show OUTSIDE. I used to sell only jewelry and that was easy. I didn't have to worry about the weather as much because I could pack it up pretty quickly--and jewelry can be dried off. The weather was great on Saturday, perfect really, but Sunday was bleak. First cloudy and then rain. What happened to summer weather? I was freezing and did not have the proper jacket with me. Eventually they called the show off at 3:30 and we all started breaking down our booths. It was stressful and I had to cover everything with plastic.
What happened on Saturday was fun. I received an award from the show staff, specifically the show DIRECTOR, and won the DIRECTOR'S CHOICE ribbon. This did not come with any monetary award but it felt great. Then later in the day, the director, Patrick Dennis came to me and told me that he was so proud of me. That he saw certain SUCCESS with my new direction (glass paintings) and encouraged me to keep it going. The sales may not have been great at the event, but the award made up for it all. I was very encouraged.
On a side note, I was discouraged to see that my glass fusing class posting was not printed in the Flagpole! I went to their website before the deadline and filled out the appropriate information, but they did not print it. I guess I have to contact them and see what that is about. For all of my readers here at The Patch... let your friends interested in glass know.... spots are limited but available! Click here for signing up!
