Working and Thinking in Glass
Working with fused glass opens up a world of choices. Using glass decals or enamels are ways of growing into more sophisticated images. Artists are lucky to get to explore!
Hi Athens Patch folks!
My journey into becoming a visual artist with glass is presenting a world of opportunities.
I am currently exploring ways of using my fusing and cutting skills with flat glass and mixing that up with my painting (not so skilled, ha ha) on watercolor on paper. My ideas of mixing the paper and glass have been in the beginning stages since I first thought of it in November of 2011.
I'm showing you some of the early work I did when I first thought of the idea. Now that I have been at it for over a year now I am starting to drift away from the faces and thinking of more complicated imagery. There are several ways I can get the effects I need and since I'm not the greatest painter in the world (HA HA) then I'll just have to look for the images I like. All my paintings can be seen here!

Nature could work! People love trees. I love trees. There are just so many options to go to. One of the techniques that is really attracting me now is silk screening images onto the glass using glass enamels. You know, there IS a cool printmaking workshop on Prince Ave that just opened. Maybe I could produce some nice images on screens over there? Have you heard of the new and exciting Double Dutch Press? So there is a very strong possiblity my paintings will be heading into a new direction with silkscreened images on the glass AND paper!

I'm also shouting out about my glass fusing workshops I'm offering. Think about it. Wouldn't it be fun to make a permanant object of art for your home in just one session of glass building?
