An officer met with the 30-year-old victim at a downtown bank. At that time, she was on the phone with a male who had identified himself as an Atlanta Police Department officer. He told her she had an outstanding warrant and needed to pay $2,500. The officer took her phone to talk to the suspect. When he identified himself as a police officer, the suspect disconnected the call. Citizens are reminded that law enforcement agencies do not solicit money for anything over the telephone. Do not purchase money cards to pay for outstanding warrants/court cost when these types of calls are received. Also, never give out personal information such as Social Security number or bank account numbers to unknown persons.
