Cardboard Car Tag Leads to Traffic Stop and Then to Arrest in Athens, Ga.

Around 5:30pm on March 10, an officer on patrol saw someone driving a vehicle that had a cardboard car tag. The officer stopped the car on on Danielsville Road at Walker Drive and talked with a man identified as Billy Joe Furr.
A warrant check revealed he had an outstanding warrant in Oconee County, so he was arrested. During a search of his vehicle, the officer found an open container of alcohol and two prescription medicine bottles.

One contained a prescription for Furr as well as a small plastic baggie containing a clear crystal substance. The second bottle also contained a clear crystal substance as well as a small spoon and four small pills.
Both crystal substances field tested positive for methamphetamine. The pills were determined to be a Schedule II substance.

Also located in the vehicle were a digital scale and syringe. Furr, 56, homeless, was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I/II Drugs, Drugs in Original Container, and Possession of Drug Related Objects. He was also cited for Open Container.
