Choking, Beating, Ends with Man's Arrest for Aggravated Assault

An early morning fight on Wednesday between a man and a woman--who have a 1-year-old child--that began over text messages on her cell phone ended when a female roommate beat the man off the woman with a broom.

Along the way, the man, Danny Lamar White, Jr., also supposedly snapped the woman’s flip phone in half when she dialed 911, choked her and then cut himself on the chest and arms with his knife while beating her.

He left the residence on Star Drive and called 911, telling dispatch that the woman and the female roommate had attacked him and that he had called 911 earlier.

The police didn’t buy White’s version of events because dispatch heard a woman’s voice calling for help, not a man’s. White, 31, was charged with aggravated assault, simple battery, and obstructing a 911 call.
