Clarke County Students Win AP Accolades

The College Board recently announced that 86 students at Clarke Central and Cedar Shoals High School have earned Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards for their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.

“Our AP Scholars have achieved at a nationally high level, and I congratulate and commend these students for their achievements,” said Superintendent Philip D. Lanoue in a press release. “I am certain these students will go on to successful post-secondary experiences built on a strong high school foundation.”

At and , some students qualified for the National AP Scholar Award. They earned an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. The Clarke County average was higher than 4.6.

These high-achieving scholars are:

Cedar Shoals High School graduate Rebekah Bau. Becca is majoring in engineering at Duke University.

Cedar Shoals High School graduate Andrew Kim. Andy is a pre-med/biology student at Emory University.

Cedar Shoals High School graduate Carmen Kraus. Carmen is an environmental sciences/art major at the University of Georgia.

Cedar Shoals High School graduate Alexandria Licht. Alexandria is a pre-nursing student at the University of Georgia.

Cedar Shoals High School graduate Zhanran Wen. Zhanran is studying at Cornell University.

 Cedar Shoals High School graduate Jason Ye. Jason is majoring in computer engineering at Georgia Tech.

Clarke Central High School graduate Rasik Winfield. Rasik is studying at the College of William and Mary.

In addition, 29 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. In Clarke County, these students earned an average score of over 4.2.

Nineteen students earned the AP Scholar with Honor Award with an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. In Clarke County, these students earned an average score of over 3.7.
