Crime Blotter: Armed Robbery, Burglary and Cars Entered on Fortson Drive in Athens, Ga.

A 31-year-old Athens man told ACCPD that he was walking in the area of Paris Street and Waddell Street when he was approached by a man armed with a gun. The gunman told the man to, “Give me your money!” and the man gave the gunman all the cash he had. A more detailed description was not obtained as the gunman was wearing a mask/helmet covering his face. The man was not injured during the robbery.
A 23-year-old man said he was walking in the area of North Lumpkin and Clayton Streets when he was approached by a man who walked a short distance with him. When he separated from the man, the man ran up behind and snatched the 23-year-old man’s wallet out of his pants pocket. The subject was described as a black man, approximately 6’0” tall, thin build with dreadlocks. The suspect was last seen running north on Lumpkin Street.

An employee of “The Bury,” 321 East Clayton Street, returned to the business after ACCPD discovered an insecure door. In reviewing surveillance footage, it was determined that the business had been entered by a young white male with bushy hair. The male subject had gone to one of the coolers and removed several bottles of beer.
A man reported that his Acadia Drive residence had been entered through a kicked-open rear door. He reported that a flat-screen TV and a gold necklace had been stolen.

A 42-year-old Athens woman reported that a family member had left her vehicle parked in the downtown area overnight. When they went back to retrieve the vehicle, it was discovered to be missing. The vehicle is a brown 1984 Chevrolet Caprice and should be displaying Georgia license plate BBY8475.
A man reported that his vehicle was entered while parked at his Springdale Street residence. A passenger-side rear window had been broken and a flashlight and change had been taken.
Seven vehicles were entered over Friday night to Saturday morning on Fortson Drive. A woman said a window was broken out of her vehicle but that nothing was taken. Vehicles belonging to an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were entered through broken windows and an I-Pod transmitter stolen from one vehicle. An older man reported his vehicle was entered through a broken window and a credit card stolen. A woman reported that a book of 50 CD’s was stolen after a window was broken out of her vehicle. Another man reported his vehicle was damaged when someone tried to pry open a window on his vehicle, but nothing was taken. A 39-year-old man reported a window was broken out of his vehicle while it was parked in his carport, but nothing was taken. And a 22-year-old woman reported that her vehicle was entered through a broken window. A large rock had been thrown through the window and also damaged the door of her vehicle. Nothing was reported to have been taken.
