Crime Blotter--entering auto, burglary, robbery

Officers responded to an entering auto in progress in the 100 block of W Hancock Ave around 10:50pm on September 1. An officer made contact with the suspect at North Lumpkin St. He was identified as Griffin Robertson, 19. The officer determined he had been drinking and he was arrested for underage consumption. During a search of his person, an officer found a large amount of coins as well as a ring and two pills identified as Alprazolam. A small, clear plastic wrapper containing a white powdery substance was found in his wallet. This substance field tested positive for cocaine. A witness approached the officer and identified Robertson as the person seen in the vehicle. Contact was made with the vehicle owner, from Memphis, TN, who advised the recovered items had been stolen from her Land Rover. Robertson, of Barnett Shoals Road, was charged with Entering Auto, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Schedule III/IV/V Substance, and Underage Possession/Consumption of Alcohol.

Someone tried to burglarize Diverse Universe, 213 Tallassee Road, between 3am and 10:45am on September 1.

Between 2am and 9:45am on September 1, some burglarized Five and Ten on Lumpkin Street. A register containing a small amount of cash was stolen. The total value was $237.

An officer met with a man from of Strickland Avenue at Athens Regional Medical Center. The man said that while he had been at a residence in the 300 block of East Clayton Street he was attacked by a person he knew. The suspect punched and kicked him in the face. This occurred around 6pm on September 1.

An officer had contact with a man from Pittsburgh, PA, on North Lumpkin Street at Strong Street around 1:30am on September 2. The man told him that he had been approached by a man on Hull Street who threatened to shoot him if he did not give him his money. The man gave him $60 and the suspect left. The suspect was described as a black man in his 20’s, 5’10”, 150 pounds, short hair, wearing a dark t-shirt, and dark shorts.
