Crime Blotter--Stealing and More Stealing

An Atlanta, GA, man was walking back to Days Inn where he was staying after leaving a downtown establishment at approximately 2:00 AM on July 15th. He became lost and walked the wrong direction out of downtown arriving at Bethel Midtown Village at 105 Hickman Drive. He encountered three young men at the front gate of the complex who asked if he needed a ride at which he replied no.  When he went to walk away from them he was pushed down from behind and his wallet was taken. He was able get away catching a cab back downtown to report the incident. The three men were last seen running into the complex by the victim.

A woman reported that someone had forcibly entered her Florida Ave residence between 12:00 PM Jon uly 4th and 4:00 PM on July 14th. Taken was a window A/C unit and a Flat Screen TV valued at $300.

A man reported that someone had entered his Sorenson Place residence between 10:30 AM on July 6th and 10:15 PM Jon uly 14th. Taken was a Sony PS3 with several video games and two electric guitars valued at $1,950.

A man from Old Commerce Road advised that someone had taken an orange 1979 Pontiac Firebird from the business between the hours of 6:00 PM July 13th and 7:00 AM July 14th. The vehicle battery was removed and it was not operational at the time of the theft.

Officers responded to an entering auto on Spring Valley Road at approximately 7:15 PM on July 14th. Witnesses described the perpetrators seen entering a vehicle and officers located two juvenile suspects in the area. The two juveniles were positively identified by the witnesses as the two seen entering the vehicle.  The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) authorized one of the juvenile’s to be detained and transported to Youth Detention Center.  The second juvenile was released to a parent by DJJ.

A 35-year-old woman from Lexington Road was traveling on Morton Road near Big Oak Circle when she left the roadway losing control of the vehicle.  The vehicle crossed back over the roadway and came to rest against a tree.  She was transported to ARMC where she was later released.  She  was charged with DUI, Endangering a child, Failure to Maintain Lane and Open Container.

ACCPD Traffic Unit and UGAPD Traffic Unit performed a combined Nighttime Seatbelt Enforcement on Jul 14th on South Milledge Avenue. There were 578 vehicles pass through the locations with 20 violators for an overall 96.9% compliance rate.
