Crime Blotter--stealing and more stealing

Between January 2 and 5, someone entered a Highland Park Drive residence belonging to a Colbert resident through a forced-open sliding glass door. A stove and refrigerator valued at $600.00 were stolen.

An Alpharetta resident reported that between December 20 and January 5, property at 185 West Paces Drive was entered through a kicked-in rear door. Nothing could be determined to have been taken.

A Preserve Drive residence was entered between December 25 and January 5 through a front window. A TV and DVD player were taken from inside.

Between December 1 and January 5, someone entered a Lexington Heights residence. Two desktop computers, an entertainment system and studio recording equipment were taken from the residence.

Between December 16 and January 5, someone entered a Highland Park Drive residence was entered through a basement door. A TV, notebook computer and I-Pod Nano were stolen.

Someone entered a vehicle between December 21 and January 5 while it was parked at a Barnett Shoals residence. The person tried to steal the stereo system and damaged the interior of the vehicle.

Following a traffic-related investigation on East Carver Drive, Savach D. Mathews, East Carver Drive, Athens, was arrested and charged  with Possession of Marijuana With Intent To Distribute, Possession of Marijuana Within 1000 Feet of Housing Property, Possession of Tools For The Commission of a Crime, Suspended Drivers License, Suspended Registration and No Proof of Insurance.

Eugene BALLARD, Cook Drive, Athens, was at a party on Cook Drive around 10:50pm on January 4 when he became involved in an argument with another subject that is known to him. Other guests were able to separate the two, and the other person went outside. A short time later, BALLARD also went outside and the argument started up again. This time, the other party obtained a crow bar from a third person, and began to attack BALLARD. BALLARD was struck on the head with the crowbar, and sustained a head injury requiring his transport by EMS for treatment. The suspect was gone upon officers’ arrival, but he has been identified by witnesses at the scene. (Case # 13-01=0254)

Between December 14 and January 4, someone entered a residence at the Exchange Apartments  through a pried-open window. Three TV’s, a Play Station II Game System and cash were taken.  

Between December 15 and January 3, a Barnett Shoals Road (Aspen Heights Apartments) residence was entered through a door with a faulty locking mechanism. The intruder took three pairs of women’s shoes and several pieces of jewelry.

A woman reported that she found a side window broken and an air conditioner moved slightly at her Pauldoe Circle residence. It could not be determined whether or not entry had been made, and nothing was determined to be missing.

A woman reported that the front door of her Vine Street residence was kicked in between 5:00pm and 7:25pm January 4. Her residence had been ransacked, but nothing seemed to be missing.

A neighbor called ACCPD when he saw two subjects dressed in all-black clothing attempting to break into a Hollow Ridge Drive residence around 8:18pm on January 4. Pry marks were found around the front door of the residence, but entry had not been gained.  

Between 6:30pm and 8:40pm on January 4, someone entered a Frederick Drive residence through a side window. A TV, laptop computer and 7” tablet were taken.

An Old Hull Road (Dogwood Apartments) residence was entered through a forced-open rear door. A TV and a purse containing a wallet and cash were taken from inside.  

A Bayberry Court residence was entered through a damaged front door and a TV, Play Station III Game System, cologne, a watch and a pair of sunglasses were stolen. The incident occurred between 5:30pm and 2:08am during the night of January 4.

A Kathwood Drive townhouse was entered between 4:00pm January 4 and 2:30am January 5 through a forced-open window. A bracelet, two necklaces and an I-Pad were taken.
