Crime Blotter--Thefts from Homes and Vehicles in Athens, Ga.

Between 4:00pm on December 7 and 7:00am on December 8, someone entered a Spring Valley Road residence through a pried-open door and took a 60” Sharp TV.

A woman reported that between 11:00pm on December 8 and 5:35am on December 9, someone entered her Hollow Ridge Drive residence by prying open a sliding glass door. The intruder took a flat-screen TV, DVD player and a gold bracelet and necklace.

A neighbor reported seeing a young black male, about 17 years old, wearing a silver shirt and jeans. acting suspiciously at the rear of a Sunny Hills Drive residence. Investigation revealed that a screen had been removed and there were pry marks around a window, but no entry had been made. 

Five vehicles were entered between 12:30am and 12:30pm on December 8 while they were parked in the lot of The Summit Apartments, 1035 Barnett Shoals Road. Someone entered one through a broken window, and took a flat-screen TV and a purse. Another vehicle had its window broken but nothing was taken. A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took speakers, an amplifier and loose change. Another man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took a gym bag and an Apple I-Pod. Another man lost loose change, wrestling shoes and a GPS from his unlocked car.

Someone entered two vehicles between 11:00pm on December 7 and 8:40am on  December 8 while they were parked at the Exchange Apartments, 235 The Preserve Drive. Someone broke a window out of a car, and rummaged through it, but didn’t take anything. A woman reported that someone entered her car through a broken window and took a leather backpack.

Someone entered two vehicles while they were parked at the Brookwood Condominiums, 660 Barnett Shoals Road, between 1:00am and 11:00am on December 8. Someone entered a man’s vehicle by breaking a window. The thief took several items of clothing, an amplifier and speaker box were taken. The owner of an unlocked vehicle reported that someone entered his car and took two rifles and an amplifier.

A resident of Wakefield Trace reported that someone entered his vehicle through a broken window between 1:00am and 7:00am while it was parked at the Shoal Creek Apartments, 930 Barnett Shoals Road. Nothing was determined to have been taken.
