Crime Blotter--Two Incidents of Guns and Robbery

An officer met with a man who lives on Martin Luther King, Jr., Pkwy, around 3:40pm on September 21. The man said he had been downtown with friends. When he got separated from them, he started walking home alone. Around 1:30am he was in the area of College Avenue and Madison Avenue, when two black men came out of nowhere and put a gun to his chest. They took his cell phone, debit card, and $5. They demanded his PIN and, out of fear, he gave it to them. Later in the day when he went to the bank to cancel his card, he discovered all of his money, $196, had been withdrawn from the account. Both suspects had a slender, athletic build. One was a little less than 6’, and wore a black, long sleeve t-shirt and dark pants; he had a light mustache and dark complexion. The second suspect was around 6’5” and wore a red hoodie and khaki shorts.

In another incident, two young men from Oconee County dropped off a friend in Rolling Ridge apartments after work. As the friend exited the vehicle, a tall black male approached the passenger side, opened the door and hit the passenger in the mouth with what they believe to be the barrel of a gun. The suspect then went to the driver’s side and made the driver get out of the vehicle and onto the ground. The suspect then struck him above the eye. The suspect took $70, a cell phone, and a book bag containing clothing and a phone charger from the driver. These items were valued at $370. The passenger had his wallet and cell phone stolen, valued together at $700. The suspect was described as tall, wearing a gray tank top and jeans. This occurred around 9:45pm on September 21. The victims drove to Walgreen’s on West Broad to call the police.
