Dead Body Found Partially Submerged in River (Updated)

Update: Police have identified the dead person as Mickey Lynn Mills, 40, of Athens.

Athens-Clarke Police said there was no initial indication of foul play in the death of a person found partially submerged in the Middle Oconee River Tuesday afternoon.

Police said in a media release that a hiker called 911 after finding the deceased person deep within Ben Burton Park.

The person has been identified, but the name is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

The body will be sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
