Driver Hits and Kills Homeless Man Along Old Hull Road in Athens, Ga.

Jonathan Ryan Brown, 21, was walking on the right side of Old Hull Road on Wednesday evening, pushing a loaded shopping car and wearing dark clothing. His back was to on-coming traffic.

Grady Dewayne Damons of Jefferson was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon, heading north on Old Hull Road, the police report said. Demons hit Brown, killing him, a little before 7pm.

No charges have been filed in the accident. Brown was said to be a homeless man living in woods near the scene of the accident, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

The newspaper story said that Brown was walking with his girlfriend at the time of the accident, but she wasn't injured. The area where the fatality occurred has little or no lighting
