Emmanuel Thrift Store to Move to New Home in Athens, Ga.
The popular Prince Avenue shop is moving to make way for the church's expansion.
Community members have until February 15 to donate items to the Emmanuel Thrift Store on Prince Avenue. The store must be cleared of all its merchandise by March 23, when it will close for business.
The thrift shop, like the neighboring Potter's House, are in a building that will be destroyed as part of Emmanuel's expansion plans. The church building will take up much of a former parking lot, and the larger building in back--where a Bell's grocery store was at one time--will be destroyed to provide parking.

The thrift store will reopen in a few months in the little white building that sits close to the President's House on Prince Avenue. The building will be reconfigured into an attractive shopping space, and a manager will be hired, according to a church member involved with the thrift house.
