'AMADEUS' at Town and Gown - Matinee

A Mainstage production by Town & Gown Players!

Peter Shaffer weaves a fascinating tale of the relationship between 18th century composers Antonio Salieri and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the young upstart whose appearance at the Vienna court opens Salieri’s eyes to his own mediocrity. Salieri is sent on a vengeful course as he questions the inexplicable distribution of innate talent and the value of popular acclaim compared to true artistic immortality. Forever unable to enjoy his own modest talents and worldly success after encountering the young genius, Salieri issues a bitter challenge to God, with Mozart’s life and destiny serving as the battleground.
