Athens Historical Society: Chicopee and the Cook & Brother Armory (Civil War history)

Free lecture on Civil War history in Athens - Andrew Clyde of Clyde Armory will talk about Ferdinand and Francis Cook, who owned the Cook & Brother Armory that manufactured cannon and rifles for the Confederacy.

The meeting will be held in Room 2002 of the Chicopee Building, 1180 East Broad Street (across the river from Weaver D's). Park in the plaza across MKL and enter near the historical marker.

Gary Doster and granddaughter Emily Jean Doster will be signing their new "Athens" postcard books, plus Gary's new book from the letters of Confederate veteran James Jewel of Oglethorpe County, called "Dear Sallie ... I would write more if I thought you would get it."
