Avid Poetry Series: Nate Pritts, Jenny Sadre-Orafai, and Dan Magers

Avid Bookshop is thrilled to announce a new installment of the Avid Poetry Series. The event will be held Friday, June 1st, at 6:30pm. Readings from poets Nate Pritts, Jenny Sadre-Orafai, and Dan Magers guarantees yet another inspiring, enlightening, and literary stimulating evening at Athens’s newest indie bookshop.

Nate Pritts is the author of four books of poems - most recently Big Bright Sun (BlazeVOX) The Wonderfull Yeare (Cooper Dillon Books) and Sweet Nothing (Lowbrow Press). His poetry has appeared in journals such as The Southern Review, Black Warrior Review, Columbia Poetry Review & Forklift, Ohio among many others. His reviews & critical prose appear regularly in Rain Taxi Review of Books, Boston Review & Coldfront. Nate has his MFA in Poetry from Warren Wilson College and PhD in British Romanticism from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He is the founder & principal editor of H_NGM_N & H_NGM_N BKS, an online journal & small press. He lives in Syracuse, New York.

Jenny Sadre-Orafai is the author of the chapbooks Weed Over Flower, What Her Hair Says About Her (forthcoming), Dressing the Throat Plate (forthcoming), and Avoid Disaster (forthcoming). Recent poetry has appeared in iO: A Journal of New American Poetry, Poemeleon, Jet Fuel Review, H_NGM_N, Wicked Alice, can we have our ball back?, FRiGG, Literary Mama, Boxcar Poetry Review, Caesura, and Gargoyle. Sadre-Orafai's prose has appeared or is forthcoming in: The Rumpus, The Los Angeles Review, South Loop Review, Ships that pass, Airplane Reading, The Written Wardrobe, and numerous anthologies. Sadre-Orafai holds an MFA from Georgia State University. She is Senior Poetry Editor for JMWW, a founding editor of The Night Outside, Atlanta Regional Editor for Coldfront Magazine, and an Assistant Professor of English at Kennesaw State University.

Dan Magers is co-founder and co-editor of Sink Review, an online poetry journal as well as founder and editor of Immaculate Disciples Press, a handmade chapbook press focused on poetry and visual arts collaborations. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and now lives in Brooklyn, New York.
