Atlanta elementary teacher and children's author Juli-ette Robin Goldston will be signing copies of her first picture book, Bowtie Brownlee Goes to School, at Avid Bookshop on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 1pm -2pm.
Robert Brownlee is beginning kindergarten this year, and today is his first day of school. Robert is known for his signature bow ties and is affectionately known as Bowtie Brownlee. He encounters a little problem when arriving at school, though, when he finds out that not many other boys his age are wearing bow ties.
Bowtie has an eventful day meeting his new teacher and making a new friend while modeling how to handle adversity and feel good about being unique. This is the first book of Bowtie's journeys and adventures.
Juli-ette Goldston has been an elementary teacher since 1999. As a result, she has instilled a love of reading in many children. Her students have become published authors and a part of several book clubs in her class. Juli-ette attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, where she earned a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. She earned her Master's in Reading Education from Mercer University. Later, she attended the University of Georgia, earning a Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Goldston still lives in the Atlanta area, teaching reading to elementary students. Her son and his father inspired her to create the character Bowtie Brownlee.
