Roll Up Your Sleeves for Athens’ Green Fest Green Day of Service
The Green Fest committee is hosting a Green Day of Service on Saturday April 21st. This year the focus will be on community and school gardens with projects at eight local schools, three community gardens, and a compost bin building site. Schools that will benefit from these projects are Cleveland Road, Fowler, Winterville, and Whit Davis Elementaries, Burney Harris Lyons, Clarke Middle, Cedar Shoals, and Monsignor Donovan. The school garden workdays will start at 9 am and run until Noon. The Community Garden workdays start at 12:30 pm. Volunteers who would like to build raised beds in preparation for the event can come to the UGArden Sunday April 15th or Weds April 18th starting at 1 PM until dark, volunteers can volunteer for any amount of time building raised beds.
