If you've ever wished for an easier way to parent, this program is for you. Join Zen Buddhist priest and author Karen Maezen Miller to discuss how simple mindfulness practices can change our perspective on parenting, unlocking a deep and instantaneous source of peace, patience, forgiveness and true love.

The time together will include a wisdom teaching, brief meditation, informal Q&A and book signing. Miller is the author of the books Momma Zen and Hand Wash Cold. Read more about her at www.karenmaezenmiller.com.

Tickets: Reserve your spot now, as space is limited. Tickets are $40 per person or $70 per parenting couple.

Location: Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens, 780 Timothy Road, Athens, Ga., 30606

Sponsoring Organization: Athens Conscious Parents, Athens' online parenting support community, and Mamahhh.com, a blog about navigating the labyrinth of motherhood one breath at a time

Food Donations: We'll be collecting canned ravioli at the event to support Athens Food 2 Kids October food drive.

Ticket proceeds benefit Athens Food 2 Kids, a program that provides free sacks of food to Clarke, Oconee, and Barrow County school children who are at risk of going hungry over the weekend. While the public schools offer breakfast and lunch to the most impoverished students in our community, many of these same children do not have a reliable source of food over the weekend. Modeled on a national program, Athens Food 2 Kids aims to bridge this weekly hunger gap.
