Occupy Atlanta will observe significant anniversaries on Saturday in Woodruff Park. Athens taking part in this as well? It seems pretty natural even with an Art Show later in the day. It would also make a Holiday Feast seem more victorious and meaningful.

Occupy Athens - Celebration of Occupation
Saturday, December 17 at 12:00pm at UGA Arch
On December 17, 2010, a fruit vendor in Tunisia lit himself on fire in protest of the oppressive regime. Thousands of protestors have been killed in the region, with many more injured or jailed, simply for wanting a voice in the political process.
On September 17, 2011, inspired by the Arab Spring, a group of people got together in New York. Over 5000 protestors have been jailed in the United States simply for wanting to have a voice.
December 17th is also the birthday of PFC Bradley Manning, who allegedly leaked information that exposed war crimes by US soldiers. Manning has paid the price by spending a year in solitary confinement, stripped naked every night. He is still awaiting trial on charges for wanting to expose things he felt should be public domain.
And now we are faced with the provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act that further strip Americans of our rights, and our political voice.
Join us this Saturday, December 17, as we make our voices heard.
