
UGA Performing Arts will present "The Miles Davis Experience: 1949-1959." This multi-media show will include live music performed in the manner it was first presented, era photos, film clips and a beat poet-style narrator. Hugh Hodgson School of Music Professor Stephen Valdez will give a brief educational lecture to introduce the show at 7:15 p.m.
Miles Davis was one of jazz music's most iconic innovators and this show recapture the period, sound, history and cultural context of this critical period of American history that Davis helped shape. This innovative performance, produced in collaboration with Blue Note Records, is an immersive experience that tells the story of post-war America, the challenges and optimism, the civil rights struggle, the historical milestones and the creative cauldron of new music that Miles pioneered and nurtured.
