During the Pharmaceutical Take Back Event, residents can bring in old, unwanted, expired or unused medications for proper disposal through incineration. Over the counter and prescription medications will be accepted along with sharps and needles, veterinary medications, controlled substances, illegal drugs, catheters and tubing. Mercury thermometers will be accepted for disposal and exchanged for an alcohol based thermometer.
Medications should be kept in original containers and should not be mixed. Labels should remain on containers; however personal information should be blocked out. Medications will be immediately sealed and destroyed through proper incineration processes. Improper disposal of medications through flushing or pouring down a drain results in the largest source of pharmaceutical by products in our water supplies.
