Snapshots: An Overview of Religion in Georgia.

On October 11, 2011, Emmanuel Episcopal Church will inaugurate its new lecture series, Steeples & Sidewalks: Lectures on Church and Community. Free and open to all, this new series will present a lecture in the spring and the fall of each year.

The inaugural lecture will be presented by Dr. David Williams, Meigs Professor in the Department of Religion at the University of Georgia. Dr. Williams is also the Director of the UGA Honors Program and author of, “From Mounds to Mega-Churches: Georgia’s Religious Heritage”. Dr. Williams will look at religious communities in Georgia and their metamorphoses from the 1550’s to the present time. The lecture will move from the Native American past to current and future developments in Georgia.
