Phil and the Blanks will have their third reunion in 30 years at The Melting Point on July 29th. The evening will give those who claimed Athens in the 70s and 80s a chance to reconnect with old friends and rekindle memories from an epic time in the city’s musical history. Plan to fan up a sweat and dance the night away.
Phil and the Blanks was an Athens mainstay band with a quirky, melodic edge. Phil and the Blanks (featuring the Blankettes) appeared on the scene as a folksy, acoustic group recycling songs from The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, and others. The group soon began to incorporate traditional and offbeat swing tunes from artists like Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Dan Hicks and the Pointer Sisters, with a strong emphasis on tight vocal harmonies.
Doors open at 6:00pm for dinner and drinks. Seating and tables will be limited and available on a first come first served basis.
