UGA Bone Marrow Drive at Tate Student Center

The UGA "Be the Match" student organization is hosting a bone marrow drive on March 28 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This drive is part of a large community effort to find a donor for 12 year old Athens Academy student Kajal Patel. Patel is fighting a rare immune disorder and needs a life-saving transplant.

The test consists of a simple mouth swap. UGA students are hoping to test at least 2,400 individuals in 24 hours topping a Guinness World Record currently held by Ohio State University.

Doctors believe that one in 20,000 people could be a match for Patel. Visit the Facebook page to learn more about this effort.
