Failure to Yield Leads to Marijuana Arrest

An Athens man was arrested Wednesday night for trafficking marijuana after he pulled out in front of oncoming traffic, according to an report.

Police noticed a blue Nissan Quest on Lexington Road that pulled into traffic, causing two cars to slam on brakes. 

After stopping the vehicle at Thornton Plaza, officers asked Alvin Jackson, 25, for his license. As Jackson and the officers talked, police smelled green marijuana coming from the car. A license check also revealed that Jackson was unlicensed. 

During a search of the vehicle, police found small baggies of marijuana, scales and small pieces of marijuana strewed throughout the vehicle.

Jackson was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of tools for a crime and driving without a valid license. He was taken to the Clarke County Jail.
