FBI Arrests Athens Man For Fake Bomb Threats

Federal authorities say Preston Alexander McWaters phoned in threats at Florida schools a business and an airport.

ATHENS, GA -- The FBI arrested an Athens man on Tuesday for making phony bomb threats against schools, a business and an airport in Florida.

Federal authorities announced that Preston Alexander McWaters, 25, was arrested without incident.

They say he was involved in multiple hoax bomb threats against schools, a business and the airport in Palm Beach County, Florida.

A federal criminal complaint was forthcoming Tuesday afternoon, the FBI said in a news release.

The FBI, Palm Beach School Police Department, Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, West Palm Beach Police Department and the Jupiter Police Department were continuing to investigate the case, according to the release.

McWaters is expected to make an initial appearance in federal court in Macon.
