Fresh Market Opens for Business Wednesday Morning in Athens, Ga.

Plan on getting there way before 9am.

On the first day of business for ALDI, shoppers got there an hour before it opened. The waiting line snaked out into the parking lot.

There's no reason to think things won't be as crowded for the Fresh Market, which opens this morning in Beechwood Shopping Center, next to Buffalo's and a Halloween store. At least there's a shelter in case it rains.

The store will sell meat and cheese, fresh produce and baked goods and other specialty products. It plans to feature local and regional food, as well as fresh seafood, and to partner with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
